Professional Bio
Mark Ortiz is a geographer and scholar of climate and environmental justice. He is a scholar-advocate with research interests spanning youth climate politics, social movement studies, storytelling methods, and environmental justice in the U.S. South. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Geography at Penn State and co-funded faculty within the Social Science Research Institute and the Institute of Energy and the Environment. Mark is the Creator and Director of the Global Youth Storytelling and Research Lab (The GYSRL) at PSU that aims to bridge youth-centered research, education, storytelling, and policy advocacy.
